Tōtara Hospice
Te Kahu Pairuri o Tōtara is honoured to be the charity partner for the BNI Tōtara Hospice Golf Event.
Tōtara Hospice Golf Event.
Your involvement in this tournament directly supports holistic, compassionate, patient‑centred care for people living with life‑limiting illness, and for the families who walk alongside them.
At some point, 1 in 3 New Zealanders will need hospice support. Thanks to community generosity, our services remain at no cost for patients and their whānau, no matter where they call home.
Hospice Care That Comes to You
For around 80% of the people we support, home is where they choose to be.
Our team comes to them, providing a full wrap‑around service that ensures comfort, dignity, and connection throughout every stage of their journey.
This includes our integrated team of:
Specialist clinicians
Palliative medicine consultants
Community care nurses
Physiotherapists
Pharmacists
Social workers
Counselling and cultural support
Allied health and wellbeing specialists
And for peace of mind, we provide a 24‑hour clinical phone line, so no one is ever left facing uncertainty alone.
Every day, our teams are on the road across South and South‑East Auckland, ensuring no one faces death unsupported
Our Hospice
Our 12‑bed Inpatient Unit in The Gardens, Manurewa is here for people whose needs may be more complex, or who, for a range of personal, medical, or family reasons, cannot be cared for at home.
Operating 365 days a year, the unit offers a calm environment staffed by highly trained clinicians who ensure every patient and their whānau feel seen, heard, and fully supported. Whether managing challenging symptoms, providing short‑term stabilisation, or offering care in the final stages of life, our team delivers personalised, compassionate support tailored to each individual’s needs.
A Community of 620,000+ Relies on Us
Tōtara Hospice serves one of Aotearoa’s largest, most diverse and economically constrained populations, with more than 620,000 people in our catchment.
Despite this scale, we receive only partial government funding. Each year, we must raise several million dollars to continue providing our specialist palliative care, wherever a patient calls home.
Your Impact.
By taking part in this event, you help ensure that hospice services:
Remain at no cost to patients and families
Continue reaching people in their homes and communities
Support patients to live every moment in comfort and dignity
Wrap around families when they need it most
Thank you for choosing to support the BNI Tōtara Hospice Golf Event, and for Helping Make the World a Better Place for Dying People across our community.
